Sironko Church Service

Sironko celebrates her six birthday next Sunday!!! No, Sironko is not a young girl. Sironko is a Presbyterian church planted almost six years ago by the Presbytery of Eastern Uganda in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Midland.

Located in a tall stand of corn, the church is nestled in the green countryside on the outskirts of the town of Sironko, which is in the foothills of Mount Elgon. Brooke, Andrew, Robin, Elizabeth and Jeff went to Sironko to worship with the large and lively congregation. The local language is Lugisu and church members translated for the team.

Jeff preached about the obedience of Simon Peter which led to the salvation of Cornelius and his household. Pastor Dennis also asked "Pastor Jeff" to lead communion. Robin talked to the women about the 5th great awakening occurring in the world and taught from 2nd Chronicles 7:14. After the lesson, the women agreed to pray for an awakening in America. After Andrew's great lesson on "staying true to God's path," the men had a lively discussion. Brooke and Elizabeth taught the children with stories of Jesus healing the blind man, healing the lepers and welcoming the children.

Pastor Dennis and the congregants were very welcoming. Approaching the sixth anniversary, the church is alive, vibrant, and full. the facility is well cared for and the congregation is grateful for the support of First Presbyterian Church of Midland.
